Exhibitors: Are you leaving potential leads on the table? After years in event staffing, we’ve seen the same avoidable mistakes: from poor booth placement to understaffed teams.
As we ramp back up to event season, we thought it would be helpful to tackle some of these and help you make the most out of your next event.
Here are some common mistakes, and, more importantly, how to fix them:
📍 Booth placement blunders: Don’t get lost in the crowd. If you choose high-traffic but low-visibility spots (like near the food line), you might not get the ROI you hoped for. FIX: Scout the floor plan early and request a spot near the keynote areas or major attractions.
👥 Staffing shortages: Skimping on team size = missed connections. If you rely on 1-2 key team members, there’s a good chance that they might burn out early. FIX: Staff for peak times, not just averages and hire trained brand ambassadors (like ours!) to handle crowds.
🎯 Weak engagement: Are you capturing leads or just swag-takers? Or do you have a passive display that won’t stop traffic? FIX: Equip staff with tablets for instant lead capture, try a mini-game to increase dwell time, and ask loads of questions.
📦 Logistics last-minute chaos: Early prep saves headaches. It happens! Shipping delays, missing tech, or no backup WiFi. FIX: Lock in timelines and contingencies early and pack a “survival kit” (cords, backup swag, etc).
📊 No follow-up plan: Don’t let hot leads go cold. You’ve got the leads, now you need to DO something with them. FIX: Schedule emails/texts to go out within 2 days of your event!
